10 Questions to help you choose an eCommerce development company
Going online is still a big decision and it’s important that your plan is carried out in a timely fashion. There are many ways to go online; you can do it yourself by setting up online with Shopify or even eBay. But if you are wanting to call in professional help, what questions should you ask of your eCommerce providers in order to help make that decision on who to use?
What experience does the company have in the sector you are in? Do they understand the type of customers you are aiming to attract?

Does the eCommerce Platform offered answer all your needs? Always ask for a demo, and consider if it looks easy to use.
3. Mobile Friendly
Will the company build you a website with a mobile bolt-on or will you get a fully responsive website? (by the way Google prefer websites to be Responsive).
4. Managing your website
Will you be able to manage all the website by yourself from the eCommerce Control Panel, such as products, images, banners, offers, customers – without either having to code aspects in HTML yourself or constantly go back to the developers for simple upkeep.
5. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)
Will the site have built in search engine optimisation capabilities such as the ability to add in meta data and search engine friendly urls.
6. Social Media
eCommerce and social media need to be natively connected – Does the eCommerce platform offer this, for example rich pins, Twitter cards, Facebook open graph, all of which help enriching social sharing.
If you have a stock control system or point of sale, can the eCommerce provider link to this in order to share inventory, product and stock date so you are not duplicating your work and your stock levels online remain accurate without having to keep them up to date manually. Does the eCommerce provider offer courier integration?
What level of reporting is built into the platform, i.e. sales reports, best sellers, export sales. Is Google Analytics built in with enhanced eCommerce tracking?
9. Costs & Other services
Does the eCommerce company offer other services, such as social media marketing, design, email marketing, product photography or can they help with other areas that your need help with. Does the company worked on fixed price contracts or price per day, and what is best with you. A fixed price contract means you know how much you are spending or likely to spend.
10. Working together
Do you think you can work with this company? Do they share the same values? What is their after-sales support like? Do they have a support contract? At the end of the day the platform is important but you need to be comfortable with the team you are working with.
