
Career Opportunity: Transport Planner, Nottingham
Overall job purpose
The role is to provide a single point of contact for all Transport related issues for both on and off-site. You will be maintaining the day to day schedules, ensuring these collections meet their time slots and are proving the most reliable and cost-effective method of getting our customers’ parcels to the carriers. You will need to be forward-thinking and be tenacious in your approach to both internal and external customers, especially on the occasions when things go wrong.
Core responsibilities
– Co-ordinate all on and off-site collections between Operations/Sales/Carriers and the customer
– Keep accurate records of costs, trailer fills and schedules
– Be proactive to find the best solution for a given customer
– Work with the Operations and Sales teams to plan for peak periods
– Debrief the Nottingham Distribution Team
Required knowledge and skills
– Arrange new collections and injection slots for new and existing customers
– Manage changes to schedules including customer communications
– Manage late and failed customer collections by carriers
– Provide quotes for collection cost to the sales team
– Answer incoming enquiries from internal and external customers relating to transport
– Develop and provide daily, weekly and monthly reports
Working Days: Monday to Friday
Working Hours: Currently between 10:00- 18:30
