Whistl, the leading delivery management company with activities in Business Mail, Doordrop Media, Fulfilment and Parcels has announced the acquisition of privately held Nottingham based Parcelhub and its sister company Mail Workshop.
Whistl is the largest private postal operator in the UK, handling 3.8bn items per year. They manage delivery services across the mail, parcels, fulfilment and doordrop media markets, both in the UK and internationally.
By investing in Parcelhub and Mail Workshop, Whistl will be able to accelerate its growth strategy to take advantage of the growing £2 billion a year eCommerce fulfilment and parcel delivery market.
Mark Rosenberg, Managing Director, Parcelhub and Mail Workshop, commented:
“As part of our ambitious plans for the future, we have successfully completed discussions with Whistl to help us to grow Parcelhub and Mail Workshop which will benefit both our employees and customers.
“Parcelhub and Mail Workshop give Whistl a stronger presence in the eCommerce sector, benefitting from our expertise across eCommerce solutions; especially carrier management and SMART customer services solutions. Whistl has a strong brand and a broad customer base who are ideal to utilise Parcelhub and Mail Workshop services.”
Mail Workshop was launched in 2003 and provides eCommerce shipping and fulfilment, printed matter fulfilment, picking and packing. Parcelhub followed in 2010 and provides a multi-carrier shipping and eCommerce customer service solution for small to medium sized e-tailers who cannot access large scale discounts available to large volume mailers.
Distributing over 6 million parcels annually across the UK on behalf of hundreds of eCommerce, eBay and Amazon retailers the company employs 90 people with a headquarters in Nottingham and was founded by Mark Rosenberg, Managing Director and Steve Riley.
This is the second acquisition by Whistl following a management buyout in 2015. It acquired Prism DM in July 2017 as part of its growth strategy into the fulfilment market.
Whistl is the UK’s largest Downstream Access Business Mail provider and is actively pursuing growth strategies in the doordrop media, parcels, fulfilment and international markets.
Nick Wells, CEO Whistl UK Ltd, commented:
“We are delighted to welcome Parcelhub and Mail Workshop into the Whistl family. It is a business that shares the same values as Whistl – providing excellent customer services cost effectively and also identified a gap in the market providing solutions for clients that could not access the services and discounts available to large volume mailers.
“Working together we will be able to optimise our current parcels services to customers and build upon our expertise and presence in the fulfilment market.”
Mark Rosenberg added:
“We have got to a stage in the development of the company that we need the extra firepower from Whistl to enable us to maximise our potential and to create opportunities for further growth. We have a similar entrepreneurial outlook to business, providing services that make customers’ businesses run better operationally and cost efficiently.”
Following the purchase of the business, Mark Rosenberg will remain as Managing Director and continue to operate the business from Nottingham under the Parcelhub and Mail Workshop brands.
